On the immigrants’ side
Advocacy is an important part of JoMoni’s work. We work to realise immigrants’ rights and to ensure that the immigrant’s voice is heard in society. We work towards a multicultural society – both locally and nationally.
JoMoni has an advocacy working group which is open to all who are interested.
We were influential in the opening of Silta Immigrant Centre. We also hold discussions on different themes, meet with city leaders and write opinion pieces and statements.
JoMoni’s advocacy work focuses on the following themes: Finnish language education for immigrants; residency permit issues; counselling and advice for immigrants; anti-racism.
In addition, JoMoni represents immigrants in the following groups
- Itä-Suomen ETNO
- MOVE (Contact person: Ville Elonheimo, ville.elonheimo @ pksotu.fi, Tel. 045 116 2060)
